Finding hope from Central America to Central Washington.

Join us for personal stories and videos of women walking together and communities working together to end violence and injustice.  Saturday, February 11th. The evening beings at 5:30 with tamales, rice, and beans from Leavenworth High School MeCHA club and their mothers to raise funds for senior projects. At 7 p.m., we will hear Julia Esquivel, a Guatemala poet who was in exile for her voice of justice.  She has created a special video for this evening. 

CEDEPCA, a Central America faith-based organization whose focus is on justice and human rights will share their work.  Their U.S. nonprofit board is meeting in Leavenworth during this time, along with Judith Castaneda, Executive Director.  Sandi Thompson-Royer, living in Leavenworth has worked with CEDEPCA for 12 years on a project called Women Walking Together, around violence against women and community organizing with North American and Central American women.

The Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and SAGE, the Wenatchee advocacy program will share their work with immigrant women and farming communities in Central Washington.  The evening’s proceeds will go to CEDEPCA and Leavenworth High School MeCHA club.
