Call To Action Campaign

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 12/29/2009 - 3:37pm

SHARE Community Land Trust is currently conducting a campaign to raise $300,000 to support affordable housing in the Upper Wenatchee Valley.  Key to the success of this campaign is a $150,000 matching grant from Harriet Bullitt and the Sleeping Lady Foundation.  Every dollar contributed to SHARE by the community, collected through fundraisers, or awarded by agency grants, is matched dollar-for-dollar.

The Call To Action Campaign was launched in the Fall of 2008 following a study that was conducted by SHARE staff and volunteers, which highlighted a large housing affordability gap in the Upper Wenatchee Valley.  The study revealed that many of our areas workers, not just lower-wage workers but also many middle-class professionals we rely on for critical services in education, health care, governance and business, have been priced out of the market.  A lack of affordable, quality rentals adds to the overall problem.
