Testimonials

FROM THE STAFF....

"With so many people struggling to access the health care system, I'm proud that so many people have applied their talent and energy to make our Free Clinic such a success."
--Tony B.

"It has been a joy and honor to have served on the Free Clinic Committee since we began some 8 years ago.  Give the generous efforts of the doctors, nurses, interpreters and receptionists, my contribution is quite small.  I serve because I feel the clinic is a very important part of our community and gives evidence that we care for one another in many ways."
--John Schramm

"I like interpreting at the Free Clinic because it is a pleasure to work with Latino folks who need and truly appreciate the help communicating with doctors and nurses.  Over the years, I have learned many things about different cultural takes on health care as I have visited with patients.  Of course, I have learned about many other issues too, and feel that I have gained at least as much or more than I have given to the patients."
--Laurie Peek

"I volunteer at the Free Clinic to reinforce my faith in mankind, and to pay forward what's been given to me.  By extending a hand, we set an example for future generations."
--Katy Kriewald

FROM THE PATIENTS....

"I think the Free Clinic is a wonderful service to the community.  For so many people that don't have medical insurance nor enough money to tend to their needs, if offers relief and comfort to know that there is a way to get some medical attention without the stress of asking, 'how can I have this or that looked at or checked?'  Myself being one of those people (since I recently lost my military insurance), I have a couple of serious situations that I am not able to tend to, and the Free Clinic gave me a lot of relief and ease, just knowing that there was someplace I could go.  Please keep the Free Clinic available!"

"The Free Clinic is great.  I don't have insurance and it seems like all my money goes elsewhere.  I really only need to see a doctor for a few minutes...."

"I think the concept of a Free Clnic is fabulous.  The availability of free basic health care in our community is a necessity.  Unfortunately, without this service, many injuries and ailments could go untreated, or treated incorrectly, causing more significant long-term damange.  I, personally, have been treating a 3rd degree burn myself.  I incorrectly treated my injury for the first couple of days.  With the option of a Free Clinic, I wil be able to minimize my healing time and maximize my confidence that I will not have any unnecessary long-term damage."

"To me, the Free Clinic means that nobody is denied to be helped and that people can come in and be seen for whatever they need to be seen for.  I also think it is a great opportunity for those who can't afford to see a doctor....how often is it that people have an opportunity like this?"
