Support the Upper Valley through its Businesses

Many downtown businesses in Leavenworth bring in a significant portion of their yearly income during the annual winter festival, the Village of Lights, which takes place over three weekends in December.

Unfortunately, businesses—and the workers they employ—missed out on one whole weekend of holiday income when the storm swept through mid-December, cancelling the Village of Lights.

Local businesses will need support this winter. Apart from curtailing sales during their busiest time of the year, the flood washed out multiple areas of Highway 2 over Stevens Pass. This will inevitably affect tourism until the Highway fully reopens.

At MEND, we’re seeing the impacts of lower tourism. Many local workers are reaching out for help with rent, food, and other assistance because fewer hours mean they can’t make ends meet.

So, if you have the means this winter, support your local Leavenworth businesses and restaurants!

How to Support Upper Valley Businesses

There are numerous ways to support Leavenworth businesses, even for people who can’t make it to support them in person. One way is to check directly with the business to see if they offer gift cards or online ordering. You can also see if the business has any items listed for sale in the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce’s Marketplace, which has been expanded to support businesses after the storm.
